TUNNEL is an audio-visual installation which represents the feminine nature, the symbolic fertility, the uterus itself and a new rebirth. The spectator is involved into visual sensations of my handwork (the minimalist black and white constructions and handmade ropes). At the beginning, he is entrapped without his choice in the tunnel and has no other way but to walk through it. Then, he enters into a dark tunnel which is curved and narrows down very slowly until one man can exit. And finally the viewer realizes that he is actually put in a uterus and his only exit is the red gate of a female genital organ. The installation is complemented with the sound of heart beat of an infant inside a uterus as the viewer walks into the dark tunnel. The specific characteristics of the working material such as rope and the process of knitting is another resemblance in correlation with the feminine sensibility and traditional knitting.
The different experiences and interpretations are awakening the desire for contemplation through the close contact with this work of art. It is an open question of the unknown: Where we come from and where we are going. That is, the far forgotten latent memory of the holy act of giving birth and the inevitable human fate, "the light behind the tunnel". The tunnel can be experienced like a healing process, spiritual bases and an illumination of the already existing truths. Yet, all of these remains open for the observer and his emotion.
