Statement

My visual language is based upon aesthetics and symbolism of primary geometrical forms. Symbols and their psychological meaning are my main interests in art as well as the myth as a spiritual system of symbolic representation with different meanings and levels. In geometric art I experience the cosmic, spiritual, divine nature of things.

My installations are carrying the idea of oneness and interconnectedness of all things in nature in its numberless diversity, with the emphasis of the dualistic unity (the balance of opposites forming the unity) of which all life comes from: micro-macro cosmos; one-multitude; female-male principle; life-death. They refer to the principle of inseparability and union as a continuous reminder of our relationship to the whole. Creation of new life, the holiness of the act of giving birth was the main theme of some of my previous audio-visual installations. Not only as an idea of human birth but also the idea of cosmic birth, the genesis of the Universe.

I’m mainly concerned with spatial concept of art, a work of art that transforms the gallery space as well as site-specific installations which impose visual impression upon the spectator with its oversized dimensions. Creating a work witch entraps and imposes communication with the viewer. In the process of creation of an artwork, the space where the artwork is placed is always important in my work as the trigger for the idea. Afterwards, the idea chooses the materials which I use. Combining different kinds of materials into one piece of art represents a challenge for me. Vitality of the piece relies on the “game” that elements create, intensifying the expression, suggesting a certain dynamic of the work in the surrounding space as well as the importance of the impact of the space on the work.

Colors are also significant part of my work. Dominant colors in my artworks are red and blue which I use as a symbol for the male and the feminine principle.

The representation of the “metaphysical world”, the concept that there is more space than it can be seen, that there is a vaster horizon, attracts my interest and triggers my creativity. Optimistic by nature, my artworks are a true celebration of life which is fueled by satisfaction and the pursuit of the meaning of our existence. My eternal search for perfect balance of the spiritual and the material principle defines my artistic writing presented through my art and in life in general.
