New Reality
NEW REALITY, public project “Traffic Insectarium – SpiderArt” on manifestation “White Night”, basement of the City Shopping Center, Skopje, Republic of N. Macedonia (2022)
- Dimensions: variable
- Technique: installation on a car (prints on Hunter douglas, transparent plastic sheeting, zippers)
This project organized by Stefan Aleksandar Jovanovski during the manifestation “White Night”, recreates the everyday rhythm of Skopje — morning coffee culture, traffic chaos, street parking, and constant urban movement. A tow truck (“PAJAK”, meaning spider in Macedonian) is positioned as the central element, followed by 3–7 cars, each carrying an artwork inside or on the windows, visible from the outside, contributing to this layered urban composition. Each vehicle becomes a moving exhibition space, transforming ordinary urban traffic into a collective installation.
In the installation NEW REALITY silhouettes of “vacuum-sealed” human figures are presented — fully enclosed within a transparent armor that forms a spider web structure. This web becomes a metaphor for human destiny, fragility, and the fatal condition of existence. The work reflects the contemporary way of life, the condition of modern reality, and the growing sense of alienation. These are individuals trapped within their own personal “bubbles,” each carrying an inner struggle and a silent narrative, caught within the delicate yet inescapable net of the spider’s web.
