Ana Ivanovska

Ana Ivanovska (Skopje, 1982) graduated at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje, Macedonia at the painting department (2006). In 2007 she finishes the Pedagogical department and in 2011 the Postgraduate studies, painting department at the same faculty.

 

She has been a member of the Association of Artists of Macedonia since 2006. In 2009, she co-founded the artist collective Art I.N.S.T.I.T.U.T. alongside several colleagues, establishing a vibrant cultural-alternative center in Skopje that remained active until 2011. In 2012, she became one of the seven founding members of the female art group “MOMI”, which continues to contribute to the Macedonian art scene with innovative projects. From 2015 to 2023, Ana held the status of an Independent Artist, supported by the Ministry of Culture. Additionally, she is the owner and manager of “Artist Workshop – TP Kreativna Složuvalka,” a company she founded in Skopje in 2014. She has been a member of the jury committee of the Association of artists of Macedonia (2022/23) and a member of a BIEAF2023 Steering Committee, The 20th BIEAF – Busan International Environment Art Festival “Change To ECO” organized by Yousang Lee (2023).

 

Ana's work has been showcased in 23 solo exhibitions and over 150 group exhibitions, both in Macedonia and internationally. She has received several awards, including the “Top 10 World Artists' award in the field of 'Logos' from BIEAF 2024 at the 21st International Festival for Ecological Art in Busan, South Korea, for the exhibition “The Old Future” organized by Yusang Lee in 2025, the Young Visual Artist Award “Denes” from the Contemporary Art Center in 2008, the “Award for Sculpture” from the Association of Artists of Macedonia in 2017, and the “New Media Award” from the same association. In 2013, she represented Macedonia in the VII Francophone Games in Nice, France.

 

Her artistic journey includes participation in several notable residencies: Cultural Informative Center of North Macedonia in Bejgrade, Serbia (2025); Cultural Informative Center of North Macedonia in Istanbul, Turkey (2025);  Cultural Informative Center of North Macedonia in Tirana, Albania (2024); Gallery MC in New York City, USA (2022); CreArt (Network of Cities for Artistic Creation) in Skopje, Macedonia (2020); Collective Windmill at Papradishte, North Macedonia (2019); Swiss Cultural Fund Albania and Gallery Kalo in Tirana and Korcha, Albania (2019); Prima Center in Berlin, Germany (2018); Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France (2014); the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture in Vienna, Austria (2011); and the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York City, USA (2009).

 

Ana's artistic practice spans a variety of media, including installations, objects, paintings, drawings, collages, and video installations. Her work explores the interconnectedness of all aspects of nature, emphasizing the dynamic balance of dualities such as micro-macro cosmos, unity and multiplicity, the feminine and masculine principles, and the cycle of life and death. Spatial concepts are central to her creations, often transforming gallery spaces through immersive, site-specific installations. Her art reflects an ongoing quest to achieve harmony between the spiritual and the material, inviting viewers into a contemplative exploration of existence's fundamental forces.
